Is a large pool of water the perfect end to your hike? How about an entire lake where cliff jumping is an attraction? The hike through Jenney Gulch is simple enough and gives you nothing but this at its end. This destination is a perfect place to plan a full day of events as there is a picnic area near the parking area and nature in every direction to explore.
As you pull into the parking lot of Jenney Gulch, if you look to the right you can see the trail worn over the hill. By following this with a slight climb, you will soon come to water and cliffs. The hike is not much of a hike but the hours of fun at the destination will make you happy. There is also an area at the beginning of the hike for boat launching. You often see individuals fishing off the shore. Available in Pactola Reservoir are lake trout, brown trout, rainbow trout, bass, and pan fish.

To drive to Jenney Gulch, take 385 towards Pactola Reservoir. Turn on to Silver City Road at the Whispering Pines Campground. After approximately four miles you will see the Jenney Gulch Trailhead.
A very unique experience in going to Jenney Gulch is the enjoyment of what is happening all around you. On a hot summer day you can sit on the cliffs surrounded by boats in the water who are watching the jumpers and even see them venturing out to try jumping themselves. It is not uncommon to see dogs jumping from the cliffs to chase thrown balls or fellow jumpers. Always you will hear taunting and daring coming from the highest cliff as one daredevil is daring another.
